Baby B's List & the Start of a Registry
After purchasing a crib last week, I realized that just starts the hunt for EVERYTHING else you need for the baby. Jeff and I went to Babies R Us this weekend to look around to get a better idea of what to shop for next. We got an explanation about strollers, sat in every glider in the store, and looked at the other furniture we'll need. Let me just say -- I now totally understand why most to-be-parents make lists. It just makes it a whole lot easier to keep track of what you need to get before baby arrives. So that's just what I did this weekend.
Target has a list of essentials it suggests for building a registry which has been a good start to my 'Baby Burch List'. There are a lot of items I want to be gender neutral because we plan on having more than one kid and I want to use them again if possible. So most of the things I'm talking about are things I want gender neutral and since we don't know the sex yet, I don't have that in the back of my head telling myself to go more feminine or more masculine.
Since we had just gotten the stroller talk, I thought it was a good place to start. I want a jogging/running stroller since I will definitely get back into running ASAP after the baby is here. I liked that Babies R Us has some combo joggers and car seats and I know that my sister has one of them. So after talking to her and then talking to my marathon runner friend Jen, I got a better idea what kind of jogger I needed. So, check one thing off the list! I've registered for an InSTEP Grand Safari in Grey/Yellow.
Next up, car seats. I want an infant car seat that can fit in the jogger and found a list of them on joggingstroller.com. The car seat also needs to have a lightweight stroller frame that can be used when we don't want to take the jogger. Graco and BabyTrend both make stroller frames that work with many infant car seats. We haven't settled on one yet, but this list is definitely smaller than it was!
Gliders was harder than I thought it would be. The ones we liked at the store, didn't come in colors we wanted and then ones that did were too big and too pricey. So the hunt still continues. I think we'll be checking out furniture stores for this before compromising on some features we want at Babies R Us.
I don't plan on doing a changing table because our room for our nursery can't handle too much furniture. So I've decided I need a dresser that doubles as a changing table but gives me the storage space since the closet isn't that big either. But this search has been a hard one too. I want something that doesn't look like "baby furniture" so that the baby can use the dresser in their toddler/teenage rooms. No luck. Until I had a conversation with my friend about it and she suggested IKEA. That reminded me of another friend who did the same thing. So IKEA.com I went and found a dresser that I love. It just so happens to be the same dresser that my friend had bought for the same purpose. Before we settle on it though, I think I'll still look around at a few more furniture stores in the area that can beat the price and style (which I think will be hard). But we are getting close!
Well -- that's it for now, but I'm always still trying to find things on the list :) Next up, bouncers, play yards, highchairs, and activity gyms!
For those that are curious we are registered at Target and Babies R Us. I'll probably be adding small things here and there without talking about them on the blog.

I feel a bump coming on...
So it's been hitting me the last few days...I think I'm starting to get a bump :) I will be so thrilled to actually start looking pregnant rather than just like I've eaten too much! I know though once it starts it only gets bigger and I know I'll be regretting my want to have a bump. Oh well, it's just part of the process, right? Stay tuned for a picture sometime in the next week or two...

2nd trimester update
I'm officially in my second trimester and started feeling so much better -- no more nausea or indigestion (at least for now)!
However, I did have an issue come up that I wasn't expecting. The past 2 weeks I've had some issues with my back/hip. After an quick visit to my OB and a few visits to a physical therapist, I'm finally feeling better. I ended up rotating my sacroiliac joint or SI joint and also threw off my spine a bit too. Now, you may ask...how did you do that?? And my answer is this: I went grocery shopping. Yep, all those things you hear about your hips and joints loosing up during pregnancy is no joke. So all you expecting out there -- be careful!! I would not wish the pain I had on my worst enemy! I couldn't sit for more than 10 secs, walk, or stand for about a week and no medication or heat/ice packs could help. I am happy to report though that I am feeling about 95% better after my PT visits! The joint finally rotated and my current pain is so much more manageable.
Other than that, I had my 15 week checkup with my OB and everything looks good still! Baby B's heartbeat was 153 and I got to setup my next appointment at 19 weeks on April 25th -- which is the big one!! We will be finding out the gender of Baby B and I get to take all those fun tests (not looking forward to that!). I also got a prescribed a higher dosage of Lovenox. Instead of 30mg 2 times a day, I'm now at 40mg 2 times a day.
My sister, Elizabeth, has also started planning a baby shower for me back in Texas for my family and friends that we have there. There have been a few challenges with planning a shower back in Texas though. First off, I have to stop flying after 25 weeks because of the Lovenox -- which is the beginning of June. Secondly, we find out the gender after invitations need to be sent out. Solution -- make the shower also a gender reveal! Jeff and I will know the gender for about 3 weeks before, but everyone else will have to wait! (Well...mostly everyone - I know I'll have to tell a few family members, but they better keep their mouths shut!!) It will at least it'll make for some very interesting shower games!
Also, if you are wondering where the bump pictures are, you are going to have to wait a little bit longer. I'm still not really showing. I just look like I ate too much still. I haven't "popped" yet!

Birthday Gift
I have been begging Jeff for a new "professional" camera for months now. He kept telling me "You'll use it and it would be a waste" and "Our camera is fine". Well, he finally gave in and he gave me one for my birthday!
He got me a Canon Rebel T2i. Ever since we opened it up, both of us (yes, you read that right 'us') have been snapping pictures of the pups to get familiar with it. Jeff loves it just as much as I do. We are amazed how great it makes the pictures look. Here are two of the good ones I've caught so far and a few from my birthday.
(Oh and Matilda is so easy to take pictures of -- she models for us and is so photogenic; Makayla is a whole other story, but we are trying!)

Burch Baby!
Jeff and I are expecting our first little one September 18th! Currently I'm a 11.5 weeks along and feeling ok. I'm not experiencing any morning sickness but I do have food aversions and it gets worse at night when I usually get nauseous. So I just go to sleep as early as a I can!
Also, just like my sister Elizabeth, I have to take Lovenox shots because of our Factor V Leiden. Currently I'm on 2 shots a day, one every 12 hours, of 30mg. If you are wonder what the heck Factor V Leiden is you can Google it or take my short and sweet explanation: It's a genetic mutation that causes my blood to clot 3-8 times more than the average person. The Lovenox is an anti-coagulant aka blood thinner and is taken in the stomach subcutaneously. Pregnancy is a dangerous time for blood clots in normal women so it's even more dangerous for people with Factor V Leiden. I only have 1 gene, heterozygous, so my dosage is for prophylactic (precautionary) reasons. I do have to be careful and I have to stop flying way before 36 weeks.
Alright enough about that! We are so so excited!! We do plan on finding out the gender and have already been told that my doctor will look at 19/20 weeks. Here are a few pictures!
